Vibez exploded back onto the Drum & Bass scene in late 2005 after a five year hiatus and appear to be making up for lost time, having signed a long list of artists from across the spectrum. ASC makes his debut here with a solid EP that showcases his more musical side. The impressive “Pacific Breeze” would fit right in next to a classic slice of GLO pressure from Artemis or Seba, while “Heatseeker” shares the same uplifting energy but with a heavy kick drum and updated technoid flair. “Visible Light” is polished and bouncy with a catchy lead, and accommodates a long acoustic guitar breakdown without feeling belabored. The icing is the RDS redux of Starbeams (the original is also forthcoming on Vibez), an inspired and infectious sci-fi tech-stepper.
